I have always thought of this area as, 
a step back in time. 
Some of the Architecture in this genre can be found in William Brown St. 
Buildings such as “Central Library”, most noticeable the columns of the Picton Library, 
The Liverpool Museum, 
The Walker Art Gallery, 
Sessions House (formerly the Museum of Labour History, now used for offices) 
and of course St George's Hall, (BELOW) can be found in this area of the City.
