Following on with the theme that this area is a step back in time, 
mono pictures sum up the historical presence of the area, 
colour pictures sum up the richness of the architecture particularly when the light is low, 
by revealing a golden cast to the buildings see next page). 

 

 

I have also adopted a postcard approach, which allows the building to stand out against a deep blue sky.

taken inside St John's Gardens, 
Statue is of now-forgotten ship owner Sir Arthur Bower Forwood Sculptured by George Frampton.                            It was unveiled by Lord Derby in 1904. 
Forwood was a respected City Councilor who died “In Harness” and the statue was paid for by public 
subscription.
