My "Meet & Greet" With Imelda May 11/2/2009
-Every Picture Tells A Story

I had arranged to photograph Imelda May as
part of a “Meet And Greet” at The Blue & Grill, based at Liverpool’s Albert
Dock. Imelda kindly agreed to pose for me inside the bar,
after she was made aware of my charity awareness photography project for Blood
Cancer Uk, through
“The Blue Bar & Grill” Liverpool.
“Blue Bar & Grill” Liverpool were very good to me and had “cordoned” part of the
bar off, this enabled me to take photographs of Imelda May with a “clear
background”, without the distraction of customers.
Both my chaperone and I were given complimentary drinks.
Imelda and her then partner Darrel Higham were very friendly and great to meet,
we (including my chaperone) all spoke about Elvis Presley and music in general
plus the similarities between Architectural styles in Liverpool and Dublin.

At the end of the “Bar
Shoot”, Imelda invited me to photograph her singing at a Gigg in the the
basement/bar that belonged to the Blue Bar, also known as “The Live lounge”…..
I was aware of this event, but I was not able to go
down such steep stairs in my wheelchair.
I thanked Imelda and explained my situation with
regard to my disability (Multiple Sclerosis)
and how the live lounge would be in-practical for
me,
the “Live Lounge” did not have seats,
I added that I could not afford a ticket.
Imelda replied that she would “sort all this for me”
and not to worry …………

What followed was unbelievable…
I approached the steep steps pushed in my wheelchair,
security guards lifted me up in my wheelchair, carried me down the steps, into
the live lounge!
My wheelchair was looked after in a safe place
and Imelda May had arranged for my to have a chair for me to sit on at the front
of the stage
ensuring that I would get the best shots!!!!!!!!!!!
