August

August gave me particular satisfaction. The Lord Mayor opened my Exhibition, "Let It Be Liverpool", The Liverpool Echo reported on my exhibition with an article by Samantha Parker and I  was photographed in front of my work at Central Library  William Brown St  by Colin Lane for the article. The Metro Newspaper  reported on my exhibition there was also reports on my exhibition on The Liverpool Culture Company Website www.liverpool08.com, http://www.liverpool360.co.uk, http://www.artinliverpool.com,http://www.visitliverpool.com ,  It really was a dream come true to take part in the Culture year and of course to be interviewed on Radio Merseyside on 29th July. It was also great to meet members of the public who asked me questions at William Brown St Library.

In August I photographed A Street Theatre Even called Sensazione, The Children's Festival, The Mathew St Festival, The Met Quarter Shopping Complex, City life etc,   and of course more Superlambanna's!

Albert Dock and Pier Head Assignment 2/8/08

In August there was a short topic spent on the Albert Dock, descriptions follow.

The Anglican Cathedral viewed from inside The Albert Dock

The sun sets over The Museum Of Liverpool under construction (centre), Pumphouse Restaurant as part of Albert Dock complex (left), Three Graces (right).                                              I wanted an image to reflect a mood of change.

The Albert Dock is the largest group of Grade I listed buildings in Britain -1.25 million square feet - and was built to the design of engineer/architect Jesse Hartley. Plans were submitted in 1839, approved in 1841 and the Dock was officially opened on 30 July 1846 by Prince Albert

City Centre Topics 7/8/08

I felt that it was important to depict how Europe's Capital Of Culture presented itself in 2008, to the everyday public, both indoors and outdoors.

Sensazione, a street theatre event held outside St George's Hall 10/8/08

Sensazione was a unique event that had elements of Spontaneity,  performers would mingle with the public, as part of the production. Also there were activities for children to take part in. This event was not only a great event to photograph, it was an opportunity to depict visually that this event was taking place in Liverpool, by including landmarks such as Wellington's column and The Empire Theatre.

City Centre Topics 14&20/8/08

2008 was to be a year were I would make up for lost time, due to illness I had not got around as much as I would of liked. To experience that "buzz" of vibrancy through Church St and Lord St again and of course visiting Liverpool1 was pure joy and inspiration to me, the best medicine I had received by far!

Topics Photographed that follow include:-

A drumming band entertained shoppers in Liverpool1 on 20/08 day, a day that was celebrated in the city because the date of the month represented 2008 20/08/08

Mathew St Festival 25/8/08

http://www.mathewstreetfestival.com/main2008.htm

I had always wanted to photograph The Mathew St Festival. This year I was kindly given a press pass by Mike Doran from The Culture Company to take pictures from what is known as "The Pit" in front of the Derby Square Stage.

The opening photographs are of local Beatles tribute band The Blue Meanies, the first image was taken from "The Pit".

In the  image just below I wanted an image that summed up the atmosphere by including the watching crowds

Crowds at Diva stage watch a Dusty Springfield tribute Act

American Band All You Need Is Love entertain the crowds and sing Beatles Songs
