Atmospheres and light patterns

Taken in the still of the night,  

In and around an architectural masterpiece!

Two images below taken by the Edward Pavilion, Royal Albert Dock, focusing on the Theme "In The Still Of The Night".

Both pictures are composed slightly differently near the Salthouse Dock.

The photographs are taken eight years apart in 2008 (just below), Liverpool's Year as European Capital Of Culture 

The image further below was taken in 2016.

Above Taken opposite The Edward Pavilion (right) at The Royal Albert Dock.

The  deep saturated red reflections from the architecture in the Salthouse Dock  contrasting in the  water in the still of the night attracted me to the scene.

The image was also used on the BBC North West Tonight weather Map 24^th September 2008

Above In a slightly higher/closer composition I have used the walls of The Edward pavilion to “lead the eye” into the frame.

I have brought out a hint of blue in the sky to add more mood.

Lights and reflections add a tranquil mood in the still of the night.

Newer subject matters included since 2008 picture are listed below 1 - 4.

1/The Merseyside Development Corporation Albert Salthouse Bridge is lit middle right of frame, a yellow light comes from the bridge and casts a reflection of the bridges arc shape in the Water.

2/Wheel of Liverpool is recorded “peeping” over the walls

3/Jurys Inn Hotel very far left distant corner

4/Narrow Boats/Barges very far right are berthed in Salthouse Dock

Above Taken looking across the Salthouse Dock, this time with my back facing the Edward Pavilion, Royal Albert Dock.

The top of the Anglican Cathedral is used as a focal point, centrally in the background.
