Objective
The objective was to capture Liverpool city at night time, while capturing the moody atmosphere of summer evenings. It was my intention to complete the project by 2008, by uploading the images to My Website. I had never captured enough of Liverpool of a night, and wanted to add variety to my site by capturing some areas that I had never covered before outside the city centre, while improve on the topics that I had already recorded. I wanted to add “feeling” to my work, by using creative filters in my image editing program, while presenting the original images alongside them. For the benefit of my site I have uploaded these images at a slightly lower resolution, although more of the images on display in the library have been uploaded to the link below at much higher resolution.

The title “Summer Night City” may suggest that all of these pictures were taken during the Summer Nights, that is not the case. I wanted to take advantage of the moody Summer evenings and depicting people relaxing and added these photographs to the original idea of the project, the resulting title was then born – “Summer Night City”
There have been other photographs taken during this time at night, which strictly speaking were not part of the “Summer Night City” Concept, including photographs commemorating Liverpool reaching it's 800th year (January2007).
Liverpool has proved to be my inspiration.
Motivation
I have been selected as 1/800 lives to represent the city’s birthday – “The 800 Lives project” run by Liverpool Museums, the fact that I was selected, gave me greater incentive to achieve my objective, and of course I wanted to show the fact that no matter what “obstacles” are put in front of me I will hurdle them, an explanation follows………. As visitors to this site will know In the Summer of 2001 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. In the summer of 2004 I was diagnosed with Acute Promyclocytic Myeloid Leukaemia, then in the spring of 2007.
I would like to dedicate this project and all future projects & exhibitions to my Haematologist, her medical team and all the staff that look after me at Whiston Hospital,
who saved my life.
This is especially for you!
